How it all began…
Daresbury Community Choir are based in All Saints Church, Daresbury and started off in 2010 as a group of Ladies who wanted to hit the high notes in the local W.I.’Jerusalem’! This developed into weekly practices and then in 2013 we made the brave step of inviting the Gentlemen to join us. We have sung in a variety of styles and concerts with our regular 35 members and have enjoyed trips to the ‘Community Choir Festival’ in Stratford upon Avon.
Our Musical Director since the very beginning, is Claire Longstaff. She brings her unique vitality and a sense of fun to rehearsals and is very proud to be involved with Daresbury Community Choir.
Claire studied saxophone at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she regularly sang on Radio 4 under Ronnie Frost for the Daily Service, and then later for a MA in Education. Her playing career has taken her all over the world from Asia to the Caribbean and touring all through Europe using her skills as a pianist, singer and multi-instrumentalist.
She now spends her time in Cheshire as a wife and mum of two, working across multiple venues as a educator providing her insight into all things musical as well as being Director of Music at All Saints Church, Daresbury where she hones her choral and organ skills!
